A 3D world for five letter heroes — A, E, I, O and U — where kids tag in the right vowel, in the right order, to catch every word.
The Vowel Squad started as a cast of characters — five vowels, each with its own color, built to make phonics feel like a team sport. The brief was to take that cast off the screen and put it in a child’s hands: a game that teaches how words are built without ever feeling like a worksheet.
We built a low-poly 3D world that runs right in the browser. Kids walk the squad through meadows, snowfields, forests, and Dino Land, finding the objects hidden in each level and tagging in the vowel that completes each word. The interface stays big, bright, and readable at a glance — chunky buttons, a squad bar keyed to the numbers 1 through 5, a star count for every level — while Buzz the Bee guides the way and bonus rounds reward the words they’ve learned.
Outcomes: A playable phonics world that opens in any browser — turning five vowels into characters kids control, and spelling into something they chase.
